When I was growing up, I never had a dream of watching Chelsea Football Club live. First, the club is based in London — one of the largest cities in the world, and I was just an average boy from a middle class family living in not even a big city in India.
Did I even have the right to dream ?
With each experience, luck and privilege, I landed up in the United States to study and solely study. Even after 4 years of living independently the USA, I knew London and Chelsea are beyond impossible.
Some things simply cannot be dreams.
And, it was announced that Chelsea Football Club will be traveling to USA a month later in 2022.
The to-be dream is now a to-be reality
I had no option, but to put up my savings, travel far and watch the game at the earliest —
15th July 2022, Las Vegas
On the evening of 14th July, what I thought would go in just waiting for the Match-Day,
— -my heart skipped a beat.
As soon as I saw him, the inner child in me who once again, never imagined running behind celebrities, wanted his autograph.
I took off my only Chelsea Jersey, and asked him to sign. While he was signing, my unconscious brain uttered:
“Stay at Chelsea, Forever”

Thomas says: Hope!
People say that your friends should be around you to experience your magical moments. That evening, there was no one around me to experience what I went through. I just went away and sat still feeling numb for an unknown amount of time.
I thought I came to watch the football match of the club I support, but I was wrong —
I came to meet a person named “Thomas Tuchel”, and the trip felt complete.
Thomas Tuchel is the man who once said —
He is the man who stayed committed —
“What I can promise is that I will be here if I can promise that! I will be here with full energy and positive energy no matter what. We will still work for Chelsea, and I refuse to think of negative scenarios.”
He is the one who follows only one account —
45 days later,
When we are young, we look forward to only those who win and succeed. As we grow, life makes us understand there are many things more important than just winning.
- It is important to be good human beings.
- It is important to keep smiling, no matter what’s happening in the background.
- It is important to spread positivity around us.
- It is important to be confident and humble.
Last time I had to part ways with someone, I remember crying, crying out loud, feeling down and lost, and wondering -
- How can the person who stayed during lowest of times, simply be not there?
- How can the person who was a source of inspiration, simply bow out?
- How can anyone part ways just like a snap?
Today, though I should be feeling all sorts of sad emotions, but I guess that version of me doesn’t exist anymore. Instead,
— I thank you for all your press conferences.
— I thank you for not just winning, but reciprocating the love and respect.
— I thank you for having an impact in my life.
— I thank you for being there in important parts of my club, and my life.
